Due to the ongoing uncertainties and travel restrictions caused by the covid-19 pandemic, the 3rdIBRN workshop, ‘Preparedness and Response to Urban Explosive Violence’, to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka has been postponed until further notice. We endeavour to reschedule the event as soon as practical.

Building on previous IBRN events, this forum will bring together multidisciplinary researchers with expertise in blast injury, engineering and health to prioritise knowledge gaps & identify research opportunities to address the issues caused by explosive violence, focusing specifically on urban scenarios and the 2019 Easter Bombings in Sri Lanka. For our 3rd event, the University of Southampton IBRN team are collaborating with our academic and healthcare partners in Sri Lanka, Action on Armed Violence (AOAV) and the Critical and Major Incident (CAMI) psychology research group at the University of Liverpool. The 2-day forum will aim to facilitate new understanding of Sri Lanka’s emergency response strengths and challenges in relation to the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings and identify practical research opportunities to strengthen #resilience to #urban #explosiveviolence.
